Lionel Messi has revealed the ONE player who made the angriest while playing football.
Messi has enjoyed a spectacular career, having accomplished success with both club and country.
In 2022, he inspired Argentina to World Cup glory as they beat France on penalties.
And ahead of representing his national side in their defence of the Copa America title, Messi named the player who has made him the angriest in his decorated career.
Messi named none other than Sergio Ramos, having duelled in El Clasicos over the years during their time at Barcelona and Real Madrid.
“With Sergio Ramos I fought a lot. He was the player I got the most angry with,” he said. “Later we were teammates, but in the Clasicos we always grabbed on to each other. The classics were intense.”
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner often butted heads with Ramos during fiery clashes in Spain’s La Liga.
But, in a stunning turn of events, they called each other teammates following the defender’s free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.
“There was suffering for several years playing against Messi,” explained Ramos, after penning a deal with the French giants.
“I am now enjoying him. He is the best player football has ever produced.”
Like Messi, Ramos could leave Europe for the United States following the expiration of his Sevilla contract.
He has been linked with a move to MLS side San Diego FC as the 38-year-old ruled out calling time on his storied career.
Asked about retiring, Ramos replied: “Absolutely not. I feel physically fit. I am hungry to continue playing.
“I see myself playing for one or two years. I had the option to stay at Sevilla, but I’ve taken a personal decision.”
Of course, Messi now plies his trade in America, having joined Inter Miami in 2023.
He could renew hostilities with Ramos should he sign for the California-based team.
