On Monday, France Football announced their latest Ballon d’Or winner.
Rodri’s victory didn’t sit well with the fans, with many claiming the Spanish player did not deserve it. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen such debates, though.
Take Wesley Sneijder, for instance – he still believes he was “robbed” back in 2010 when Lionel Messi won the award. However, unlike others, the Dutchman is actually “happy” it happened.
“Now, in 2024, 14 years later, people are still talking about it. They are telling me like ‘Wes, you got robbed’. Imagine I won it and people now would say ‘Yeah, but he robbed it’.
“Individual prices are nice, but team prices…raising the cup, the Champions League, was for me more valuable than winning the Golden Ball,” he explained.
