Argentina press might be ‘upset’ by Alejandro Garnacho celebration

Alejandro Garnacho scored a wonderful goal against Manchester City and it resembled a footballing great.

Saturday saw Alejandro Garnacho explode back onto the scene for Manchester United, after missing pre-season up until this week.

The Argentine was a second-half substitute, but he wasted no time reminding the Old Trafford faithful – who had travelled to Wembley – what he is all about.

Ben Jacobs on X: "Manchester City 0 Manchester United 1. Alejandro Garnacho with a calm and composed finish to put #MUFC ten minutes away from winning the Community Shield.🔴 https://t.co/ZUSccn7uzu" / X

Garnacho was lauded for his impact in the defeat by MUTV pundits after the game – with his finishing catching the eye of Phil Bardsley, while Roy Keane also praised Garnacho.

After such an impressive outing, the press in Garnacho’s nation of Argentina has been reacting, and they all made one striking comparison.

How the Argentinian press reacted to Alejandro Garnacho’s goal

Garnacho’s goal was special, from the run to beating defenders to finally finishing so cooly, the No.17 will have impressed many.

Among those who were impressed was Argentine outlet Ole. They praised the ‘spectacular’ goal and even compared it with the greatest of all time.

MUTV pundit says 'lightning fast' Alejandro Garnacho has really improved in one area for Man Utd

“Alejandro Garnacho’s goal was spectacular and his future is extremely promising. The winger was unstoppable and found 1-0 after a Lionel Messi-style individual goal.

“After the goal that gave the lead to United, Garnacho changed the Messi-style for that of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine went to celebrate with his fans and imitated the Portuguese [player].”

Radio Gol also made this very comparison after Garnacho’s left-footed finish.

“From the right wing to the centre, like Lionel Messi, his teammate in the Argentine National Team, Garnacho scored a great goal in Wembley.”

Finally, El Grafico also praised the ‘tremendous moment from Garnacho.

“Alejandro Garnacho scored a great goal at the mythical Wembley stadium. The Argentine winger had entered at 57 minutes and at 81′ he made a tremendous play”

How Garnacho performed against City

Manchester United’s superstar 20-year-old entered the pitch around the 60th minute and 22 minutes later, he broke the deadlock for the second straight Manchester Derby.

He created one chance for his teammates as well as scoring, with Marcus Rashfrod’s poor finishing letting him down.

Garnacho showed why he is widely considered to be one of the first names on the team sheet – a constant threat on the right, or the left.

With the Argentine press impressed, hopefully, the next international break sees Garnacho given a proper chance to prove himself at the international level.
