A major development has emerged in Kylian Mbappe’s long-running legal battle with PSG, with French judges closing the criminal investigation into allegations of moral harassment against his former club.
Mbappé Suffers Major Legal Setback as Court Closes Case Against PSG
Kylian Mbappé has suffered a significant setback in one part of his long-running legal battle with Paris Saint-Germain after French judges closed a criminal investigation involving his former club.

The investigation concerned allegations of moral harassment against Mbappé during the final stages of his time at PSG.
According to reports in France, investigating judges issued a decision not to take the case further because they did not find sufficient evidence to continue with criminal proceedings.
The decision was made in late May 2026 but only became public on October 2.
Case against PSG closed
Mbappé originally filed a criminal complaint against PSG in May 2025.
The case was linked to the difficult period he experienced at the club after telling PSG in 2023 that he did not intend to extend his contract.

That decision created a major dispute between the player and the club.
Mbappé was temporarily separated from PSG’s main first-team group during the summer of 2023.
That period became one of the central issues behind his later accusations of moral harassment.
Judges find insufficient evidence
However, the criminal case will now go no further.
French reports say investigating judges issued a “non-lieu”, meaning the matter would not proceed to a criminal trial.
The reason given was that there were not enough charges or evidence to justify continuing the case.
This represents an important legal boost for PSG in one part of their bitter dispute with their former superstar.
Mbappé had already withdrawn complaint
There is another important detail behind the decision.
Mbappé withdrew his criminal complaint in July 2025, only a few months after originally filing it.
The investigation did not immediately end because the authorities were still able to examine the case.

However, judges eventually decided in May 2026 that there was not enough evidence to take the matter further.
The decision has now been revealed publicly for the first time.
The famous “loft” controversy
The dispute can be traced back to the summer of 2023.
Mbappé informed PSG that he would not activate an option to extend his contract beyond 2024.
PSG did not want to lose one of the world’s most valuable players for free and attempted to find a solution.

During the dispute, Mbappé was left out of the club’s pre-season tour and trained away from the main first-team group for a period.
The situation was widely linked to what is known in French football as the “loft”, a group for players who are not part of the club’s immediate sporting plans.
Mbappé later returned to the first team and completed his final season in Paris before joining Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2024.
But Mbappé has already beaten PSG in another case
It is important to separate this latest development from the financial dispute between Mbappé and PSG.
The closed criminal investigation does not cancel Mbappé’s victory in his separate case over unpaid salary and bonuses.

In December 2025, a Paris labour court ordered PSG to pay Mbappé around €60 million in unpaid salary, bonuses and related payments.
The court rejected PSG’s argument that the player had agreed to give up the money as part of an arrangement made before his departure.
That financial case and the criminal harassment investigation are separate legal matters.
Different results in Mbappé’s legal battles
The situation therefore has two very different outcomes.
In the financial dispute, Mbappé secured a major victory and PSG were ordered to pay him tens of millions of euros.
But in the criminal investigation concerning alleged moral harassment, prosecutors and judges did not establish sufficient grounds for the case to continue.
That means neither development should be presented as a complete victory for one side in the entire Mbappé-PSG conflict.
Another chapter closes in bitter PSG exit
Mbappé spent seven seasons at PSG after arriving from Monaco in 2017.
He became the club’s all-time leading scorer and won numerous domestic trophies before leaving for Real Madrid.

However, the final part of his relationship with PSG became increasingly difficult because of his contract situation and eventual departure.
The dispute continued in court even after Mbappé moved to Spain.
Now, one of the most serious legal accusations connected to that messy separation has been closed without a criminal trial.
The decision gives PSG an important legal boost, while also bringing another part of one of football’s most dramatic player-club disputes closer to an end.
