Nico Williams’ release clause has emerged after a devastating performance for Spain against Italy at Euro 2024.
The winger was named in Spain’s starting XI for the second consecutive game at the tournament in Germany and produced an electric Man of the Match display.
The 21-year-old twisted Giovanni Di Lorenzo up with some sensational play down the left flank and scooped UEFA’s official award afterwards.
Both he and 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal give La Roja dynamism, pace and trickery on the wings and are integral to their success.
Born in Ghana, Williams made his 16th appearance for Spain – with big brother Inaki representing his birth country.
They both ply their trade with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao and Williams Jr could well have plenty of clubs sniffing around him in the summer.
It’s emerged, via ESPN, that he has a release clause of just £43 million which can be activated.
Fans have almost been left in disbelief by the price Williams is available for given his current ability and potential.
One commented: “Whoever pays this is gonna be a steal.”
Another wrote: “Somebody will easily pay it after what they saw today.”
A third added: “Arsenal what are you doing?”
A fourth said: “Chelsea should go for him asap.”
A final person added: “@ManUtd what are u Waiting for.”
Barcelona have been heavily linked with Williams and wing partner Yamal has already urged him to link up with him at club level.
“Nico is a great player and I hope to be able to share a dressing room with him,” he said in an interview with Cadena SER.
“Of course, I think he should decide. We get along really well. Since the first call, he has been like that and he is another friend here. He is one of those wingers who confront you, who beat you with speed. He has audacity, can overwhelm anyone, and that helps any team. If I could, I would sign him.”
