Mbappe bitterly admits harsh truth after Spain defeat

According to L’Equipe, Kylian Mbappe admitted that the France team was not good enough to reach the 2026 World Cup final due to performing poorly in both technical and tactical aspects.

Spain proved their superior strength in the clash against the France team in the 2026 World Cup semifinal, where manager Didier Deschamps’s army suffered a convincing 0-2 defeat.

Immediately after the match ended, Kylian Mbappe, the number one star of “Les Bleus”, made direct statements about the reason causing his home team to suffer defeat. The star on Real Madrid’s payroll argued that the collapse stemmed from the blue-shirted team’s inability to maintain their style of play and identity under great pressure.

He shared with the media: “I think we didn’t play our game, both technically and tactically. In a harsh environment like a World Cup semi-final, when you don’t execute what needs to be done, suffering defeat is inevitable.”

The forward also emphasized the difference in playing discipline between the two teams. While France was flustered, Spain showed incredible stability in operating their system.

He continued: “Spain stuck to their game plan absolutely. As for us, when we failed to meet the strict criteria in an important match like this, we couldn’t win.”

Notably, Kylian Mbappe did not hesitate to admit the truth about his home team’s current level compared to the fans’ expectations. He made a realistic assertion: “To be completely honest, we were not capable of earning the right to play in the final.”

Now, Didier Deschamps and his students will look forward to the 2026 World Cup third-place match taking place on July 18.
