Raul Asencio will have to appear in court in September to address allegations of sharing a sensitive video involving a minor.
The 23-year-old player faces two charges, including distributing sexually explicit content and sharing the video without consent. Asencio will stand trial alongside three former Real Madrid academy players: Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez, and Andres Garcia.

According to the indictment, Asencio is not believed to have directly filmed the video. However, investigating authorities accuse the Spanish center-back of asking for the video to be sent to him and subsequently sharing it with another person.
The three former players Ruiz, Rodriguez, and Garcia are accused of filming and distributing sensitive videos involving a minor and another woman. Initially, the two victims withdrew their complaint against Asencio. However, the court requires them to reconfirm this decision during the trial for it to have legal validity.
The case dates back to September 2023, when Ruiz, Rodriguez, and Garcia were arrested following a complaint from the mother of a 16-year-old girl in the Canary Islands. The complainant stated that the sexual relationship was consensual, but the recording and distribution of the video were not permitted.

Defense attorneys had requested to throw out evidence collected from the defendants’ phones. However, the judge rejected the request, calling it a “clear attempt to obstruct the investigation”.
In May 2025, Asencio spoke out to deny all charges. The product of Real Madrid’s youth academy asserted that he did not participate in any conduct infringing upon the sexual freedom of women, particularly minors. Despite being entangled in the legal case, Asencio has still become an important figure in the Real Madrid squad.
He made his first-team debut in November 2024 and has made 80 appearances for the Spanish giants. Currently, Asencio is receiving treatment for a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the rest of pre-season as well as the initial matches of La Liga 2026/27.
