Mourinho openly speaks about Vinicius’ future

While Arsenal are aggressively pursuing Vinicius Junior, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that the Brazilian star is set to return to Real Madrid for a decisive meeting regarding his future.

Following Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw against Fiorentina on August 1, manager Mourinho stated: “I really look forward to having a full squad to prepare for the new season. On Monday, Vinicius, Brahim Diaz, and Bernardo will return. After that, the players who played in the World Cup semi-finals and final will also assemble one by one.”

At the same time, Arsenal are closely monitoring Vinicius’ situation. According to British media, the Emirates side believes that the 26-year-old’s contract having only until 2027 remaining opens up a rare opportunity to complete a historic transfer. The “Gunners” are willing to break their wage structure and offer attractive terms to convince the Brazil international.

However, any final decision will likely be determined following a face-to-face meeting between Vinicius and Real Madrid management as soon as he returns to Spain.

According to newspaper AS, the Brazilian forward will hold a working session with Mourinho before sitting down at the negotiating table with club executives to clarify his desires regarding his future as well as his contract extension status, which is set to expire in about 11 months. If both sides reach a common ground, Vinicius will continue his association with the Santiago Bernabeu. Conversely, the possibility of parting ways with Real Madrid will no longer be ruled out.

Sources from Spain indicate that Real Madrid remains quite calm amidst rumors linking him to Arsenal. However, the biggest sticking point remains financial. Real Madrid has no intention of raising their extension offer to the salary level Vinicius desires.
