Neymar has left supporters deeply concerned after publicly addressing the prospect of hanging up his boots for the first time, while also establishing the timeline for making a pivotal decision regarding the remainder of his playing career.
The Brazilian star’s future remains shrouded in uncertainty following his latest candid remarks. Speaking on his personal YouTube channel during the Neymar Institute’s annual charity auction, the 34-year-old forward confessed that he remains unsure of how much longer he will stay active on the pitch.
“I don’t know how much longer I will play. Right now, I’m not thinking about stopping, and I have no idea when that moment will come,” Neymar shared.
Neymar’s current agreement with Santos runs through December 2026. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain attacker insisted that his immediate priority is fulfilling his commitment to his boyhood club before contemplating his next move.
“I have a contract with Santos through December. I want to see out my contract and honor the Santos shirt in the best way possible. Once my contract ends, I will give serious thought to what I want next—whether to stay at Santos, move elsewhere, call it quits, or keep playing.”
Neymar’s remarks swiftly captured widespread attention as he openly kept the door open to retirement and weighed the option of walking away. “I honestly don’t know what I’ll do yet. There is still time between now and December. We will take it step by step, game by game. I feel good physically, and that’s what truly matters. Right now, we have an important match ahead of us,” he emphasized.
Since returning to Santos post-World Cup, Neymar has experienced a mixed bag of results. Against Chapecoense, the 34-year-old bagged a brace, proving that his match-winning brilliance remains intact.
