Yamal writes his name into wembley history with stunning two-minute goal

Lamine Yamal has written another piece of football history after scoring one of the fastest goals England have ever conceded at Wembley.

ImageThe Barcelona superstar needed only around two minutes to put Spain ahead in their UEFA Nations League clash with England.

It was a brilliant individual moment from the 19-year-old.

But the statistic behind the goal made it even more remarkable.

According to Opta, Yamal’s strike was the third-fastest goal England have ever conceded at Wembley Stadium.

Spain could hardly have dreamed of a better start in London.

The Barcelona winger stole the ball and drove directly towards the England penalty area.

Guehi attempted to recover, but Yamal stayed calm under pressure.

He curled his finish past James Trafford, with the ball hitting the inside of the post before crossing the line.

Wembley was stunned.

Spain were ahead after only two minutes.

Third-fastest goal England have conceded at Wembley

The goal immediately entered the history books.

Opta confirmed that only two opponents have ever scored earlier against England at Wembley.

The first came from:

HUNGARY IN 1953

Hungary scored during the opening minute of their famous victory over England.

The second came from:

SCOTLAND IN 1957

Scotland also found the net during the first minute.

Then came Yamal in 2026.

LAMINE YAMAL . 2ND MINUTE

That makes his strike the third-fastest goal England have ever conceded at their national stadium.

England had not experienced this for almost 70 years

The historical gap makes Yamal’s achievement even more impressive.

Before the Spain star struck, the last visiting team to score this quickly against England at Wembley was Scotland in 1957.

That happened:

In other words, almost seven decades had passed since Wembley had seen England fall behind so early.

Yamal has now become the player to end that remarkable 69-year wait.

Yamal punishes Guehi immediately

The goal also showed one of the biggest strengths in Yamal’s game.

He did not simply wait for Spain to create an attacking move.

He recognised Guehi’s mistake and attacked immediately.

The England defender hesitated while controlling the ball outside his own penalty area.

Yamal needed only a moment to take advantage.

Within seconds, the 19-year-old had won possession, entered the box and beaten Trafford.

It was ruthless football from one of the biggest young stars in the game.

Wembley stunned by the 19-year-old

The atmosphere before the match had been intense.

England were playing at home against the reigning world and European champions.

But supporters had barely settled into their seats before Spain were celebrating.

Yamal’s early strike immediately silenced much of Wembley and gave Luis de la Fuente’s team the perfect start.

It was another reminder of how comfortable the Barcelona winger has become on football’s biggest stages.

Spain could have scored even more

Yamal’s goal was not Spain’s only dangerous moment during the opening period.

The visitors created several excellent opportunities as England struggled defensively.

Ferran Torres even put the ball into the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Torres then received another huge opportunity after Yamal played him through.

James Trafford produced an important save.

Later, Torres found himself one-on-one again but sent his effort wide.

Spain could easily have built a much bigger early advantage after Yamal’s historic opener.

Yamal continues incredible start to the season

The goal also continued an outstanding start to the campaign for the Barcelona star.

Yamal entered the England match after producing impressive numbers at club level.

In his first eight competitive Barcelona appearances of the 2026/27 season, he had recorded:

8 GOALS

6 ASSISTS

His Wembley strike also took him to:

8 GOALS IN 34 APPEARANCES FOR SPAIN

And he is still only 19 years old.

Another big moment for Spain’s new superstar

Yamal has already experienced major international success at a remarkably young age.

He played a major role as Spain won Euro 2024.

Spain then added the 2026 World Cup to their growing collection of trophies.

The next challenge is to continue that success in the Nations League.

And Yamal needed only two minutes of the new campaign to produce another unforgettable international moment.

Spain chasing another historic era

Spain are now trying to follow the path of their legendary generation from 2008 to 2012.

That team won three consecutive major tournaments:

Euro 2008

World Cup 2010

Euro 2012

The current generation have already won Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.

Yamal is one of the main faces of a team hoping to create another golden era.

Performances like his explosive start at Wembley show exactly why expectations around this Spain side are so high.

Yamal adds another record to his young career

Records are already becoming normal for Lamine Yamal.

Despite being only 19, he has broken or matched several historic marks for Barcelona and Spain.

Now Wembley has been added to the list.

Hungary scored against England inside the first minute in 1953.

Scotland repeated the achievement in 1957.

And almost 70 years later:

LAMINE YAMAL SCORED AFTER JUST TWO MINUTES.

It was only one goal in a Nations League match.

But historically, it was something Wembley had not experienced for 69 years.

At just 19, Yamal has once again found a way to put his name into football history.
