Lamine Yamal’s goal against Feyenoord moved him to 12 Champions League goals before his 20th birthday, just one behind Kylian Mbappé’s record, with Erling Haaland third on 10.
Lamine Yamal moves one goal away from Mbappé’s historic Champions League record
Lamine Yamal is now just one goal away from matching Kylian Mbappé’s record for the most Champions League goals scored before turning 20.
The Barcelona star scored again during the 5-1 victory over Feyenoord, taking his teenage Champions League total to 12.
According to UEFA’s official statistics, Mbappé remains the record holder with 13, while Erling Haaland sits third with 10.
Yamal reaches 12 Champions League goals
Yamal entered the Feyenoord match with 11 Champions League goals and added another during Barcelona’s emphatic victory.
That leaves the 19-year-old only one goal behind Mbappé.
With much of the 2026/27 Champions League campaign still ahead of him, Yamal has a major opportunity to equal and then break the record.
Mbappé still holds the record
Mbappé scored 13 Champions League goals before celebrating his 20th birthday.
He reached that total in 23 appearances after emerging spectacularly with Monaco and continuing his scoring run at Paris Saint-Germain.

For now, the record still belongs to the Frenchman.
The top three teenage Champions League scorers
The current ranking is:
Kylian Mbappé: 13 goals before turning 20.
Lamine Yamal: 12 goals before turning 20.
Erling Haaland: 10 goals before turning 20.
Three of the biggest attacking stars of their generations occupy the leading positions.
Haaland’s scoring rate remains extraordinary
Haaland may sit third in total goals, but his efficiency was exceptional.
The Norwegian scored 10 Champions League goals in only eight appearances before turning 20.

Mbappé needed 23 games to reach 13, while Yamal has played considerably more matches to reach 12.
Yamal still has time to break the record
Yamal was born on July 13, 2007 and will not turn 20 until July 2027.
That gives him almost an entire Champions League season to add to his teenage total.

One more goal will equal Mbappé.
Two more will give Yamal the outright record.
Yamal has already beaten Mbappé in another category
Although he has not yet broken the before-20 record, Yamal already owns another major Champions League milestone.
UEFA lists him as the player with the most Champions League goals before his 19th birthday.

Yamal scored 11 before turning 19, compared with Mbappé’s 10.
He also scored five Champions League goals before turning 18, another remarkable age record.
Another historic night against Feyenoord
Yamal’s latest goal came during Barcelona’s 5-1 victory over Feyenoord.
The strike pushed him closer to Mbappé’s record while he is still only 19.

The same night also brought another milestone, as Yamal became the youngest captain in Barcelona first-team history at 19 years and 58 days.
Mbappé set the teenage benchmark
Before Yamal emerged, Mbappé was the obvious reference point for teenage success in the Champions League.
His performances for Monaco in 2016/17 made him a global star while still only 18.
He scored repeatedly in knockout matches and later continued adding goals with PSG before turning 20.
Thirteen became the number future teenage stars had to chase.
Yamal is now within touching distance
Yamal’s route has been different.
He became a Barcelona regular exceptionally young and has accumulated Champions League appearances across several seasons.
Now that experience has taken him to within one goal of Mbappé.
His next Champions League goal will make it 13.
The one after that would create a new teenage record.
