Barcelona are facing a crucial week ahead as the club tries not only to secure Julian Alvarez but also to retain Ferran Torres.
The Spanish World Cup star, who netted a goal during the final against Argentina, has attracted serious interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona have consistently insisted on keeping hold of Ferran, particularly after parting ways with Robert Lewandowski. However, the club now seems to be gradually adopting a more pragmatic approach.
According to MARCA, Barcelona are prepared to sanction Ferran Torres’ departure if the forward is determined to leave the club in favor of a switch to PSG. The Catalans have no desire to keep anyone in the squad who lacks full commitment to staying at Camp Nou.
The board is also realistic about their inability to match PSG’s financial package for the Spain international. This aligns with earlier reports indicating that Barcelona would refrain from entering a wage bidding war for the attacker.
Even so, the club still intends to make an effort to persuade the former Man City prodigy to extend his stay at Camp Nou, with his current deal entering its final year next season.
Although Barcelona are willing to consider selling Ferran, they will not let him go on the cheap. The club holds a firm stance regarding the player’s valuation. With Transfermarkt listing his market value at €55 million, the club is seeking an offer in that exact neighborhood.
This remains their position despite Ferran’s deal running through 2027, as the Blaugrana prefer sanctioning a move this window over risking a free-agent exit from Camp Nou next summer.
Therefore, any prospective buyer, including PSG, must put forward a proposal around €55 million to secure his signature.
For the time being, Barcelona are waiting for Ferran Torres to return from his extended post-tournament break, after which the forward is expected to reveal his final choice.
