Cristiano Ronaldo Made a Major Financial Decision One Day Before Marrying Georgina Rodriguez

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez finally tied the knot after nearly a decade together, but a major financial decision made just one day before their wedding has now attracted almost as much attention as the ceremony itself.

The Portuguese superstar married his long-term partner in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11, 2026.

However, newly revealed details from their marriage registration show that Ronaldo and Georgina had already taken an important step to determine what would happen to their respective fortunes if their marriage ever came to an end.

Ronaldo and Georgina signed a prenuptial agreement

According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias, Ronaldo and Georgina signed a prenuptial agreement at a notary’s office in Lisbon on August 10, just one day before getting married.

The couple opted for a “separation of assets” marriage regime.

Under this arrangement, Ronaldo and Georgina retain ownership of their individual assets rather than automatically combining their wealth after marriage.

In practical terms, property and wealth belonging to Ronaldo remain his, while Georgina retains control of her own assets. The same principle generally applies to assets acquired individually during the marriage, while property acquired jointly can still be jointly owned.

The decision is particularly significant given the enormous fortune Ronaldo has accumulated during his legendary football career.

Alongside the money earned from playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al-Nassr, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has built an extensive business portfolio involving sponsorships, hotels, property and his CR7 brand.

Would Georgina receive €100,000 per month if they separated?

Another reported financial agreement between Ronaldo and Georgina has resurfaced following their wedding.

Back in 2023, reports in Portugal and Spain claimed the couple had previously reached an agreement designed to protect both parties in the event of a separation.

Those reports alleged that Georgina would be entitled to approximately €100,000 per month for life if the relationship ended.

They also claimed that Georgina would retain the family’s luxury property in the exclusive La Finca area of Madrid.

However, there is an important distinction.

Neither Ronaldo nor Georgina has publicly confirmed those specific terms, and there is currently no verified evidence showing that the reported €100,000 monthly payment or the Madrid property form part of the prenuptial agreement signed on August 10, 2026.

The newly reported marriage documentation confirms the separation-of-assets regime, but the additional financial provisions remain based on earlier media reports.

Why the agreement matters

A separation-of-assets agreement means Georgina would not automatically become entitled to half of Ronaldo’s entire fortune simply because they are now married.

Instead, the couple have established a clear distinction between their individual wealth.

That does not necessarily mean Georgina would walk away with nothing in the event of a divorce. Any separately agreed financial provisions, jointly owned assets and other legal considerations could still play a role.

Georgina has also built considerable wealth of her own during her relationship with Ronaldo, developing a successful career as a model, influencer and television personality, including her Netflix series I Am Georgina.

A private wedding after nearly a decade together

Ronaldo and Georgina have been together since 2016, having first met in Madrid while Georgina was working at a Gucci store.

After years of speculation about whether they would eventually marry, Georgina announced their engagement in August 2025.

Almost exactly one year later, the couple made their marriage official with a private ceremony in Portugal.

While Ronaldo and Georgina have kept many details of their wedding away from the public eye, the discovery of their prenuptial agreement provides a rare glimpse into how one of football’s most famous couples has chosen to manage its finances.

And with Ronaldo having built one of the largest personal fortunes in sporting history, their decision to keep their assets legally separate is perhaps hardly surprising.
