Man Utd Equal Real Madrid’s Rare Champions League Record After Stunning Comeback
Manchester United have officially matched an incredible Champions League record held by Real Madrid after producing a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over AS Roma.

Michael Carrick’s side recovered from a 2-0 deficit at Old Trafford on November 3 to secure a much-needed victory.
The result also ended Manchester United’s nine-match winless run across all competitions.
Man Utd equal Real Madrid’s Champions League record
According to Opta, Manchester United have now won four Champions League matches after falling at least two goals behind.
That puts the Red Devils level with Real Madrid, with both clubs holding the record of four such comebacks.

United previously achieved this against Juventus in 1999, Braga in 2012 and Atalanta in 2021.
Interestingly, all four victories ended with the same scoreline: 3-2.
Matheus Cunha inspires incredible comeback against Roma
Manchester United made a terrible start as MatÃas Soulé and Donyell Malen gave Roma a 2-0 lead after just 17 minutes.
However, Bruno Fernandes started the comeback by scoring a retaken penalty in the 58th minute.

Matheus Cunha then became the hero.
The Brazilian scored twice in the 83rd and 86th minutes to complete a stunning 3-2 victory.
Cunha was later sent off after receiving a second yellow card, but United managed to hold on.
Carrick ends Man Utd’s terrible run
The victory was especially important for Michael Carrick, who had been under growing pressure following nine matches without a win.
It also brought an interesting connection to United’s previous Champions League comeback against Atalanta in 2021.
Both Atalanta in 2021 and Roma in 2026 were managed by Gian Piero Gasperini when they lost 3-2 to United after leading by two goals.

The win has given Carrick and his players a major confidence boost ahead of their next matches.
And by matching Real Madrid’s remarkable Champions League record, Manchester United have finally given their supporters a historic night to celebrate.
