Mohamed Salah has reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to join Besiktas on a free transfer, opening a new chapter in Turkey after parting ways with Liverpool.
According to journalist Nico Schira, the two sides have reportedly reached an agreement in principle on a contract running through 2027, with a salary of up to 12 million euros per year and an option to extend for an additional season.
Manager Vincenzo Italiano is currently directly driving negotiations to finalize the deal in the coming days. The decision to choose Turkey is viewed as a strategic move for the winger born in 1992.
After affirming that he would not play for any other team in the Premier League, the Egyptian international needed an environment with sufficient financial backing and competitiveness to continue proving his class in Europe. Amid other major leagues tightening their spending, the Süper Lig has become an ideal destination for his ambitions.
Alongside Salah, Besiktas is also showing grand ambition by targeting striker Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan forward could also land at the Istanbul team this summer. However, Besiktas must compete with MLS side Atlanta United (USA).
If both deals succeed, Besiktas will possess a world-class star duo formerly of Liverpool, leaving them ready to challenge for domestic titles and build competitive strength on the continental stage.
