Neymar Reacts With Just One Word After Ronaldo Announces International Retirement
Neymar has attracted attention across the football world after sending a one-word message to Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portuguese superstar’s international retirement announcement.
On November 5, Ronaldo announced his decision to retire from international football after 23 remarkable years with Portugal.
The emotional announcement quickly received messages from famous players, former teammates and football clubs around the world.
However, Neymar’s reaction stood out because the Brazilian superstar needed just one word to express his respect.
Neymar sends special message to Ronaldo
Shortly after Ronaldo shared his retirement announcement on Instagram, Neymar liked the post and left a very short comment.
The former Barcelona and PSG star simply wrote:
“Lenda”
The Portuguese word means “Legend” in English.
Despite their famous rivalry during their years at Barcelona and Real Madrid, Neymar showed his respect for Ronaldo with this simple message.
The reaction quickly attracted attention as football fans looked back at the two superstars’ unforgettable careers.
VinÃcius Jr. also pays tribute to Ronaldo
Neymar was not the only Brazilian star to react to Ronaldo’s announcement.
Real Madrid winger VinÃcius Jr. also left a special message under the Portuguese legend’s Instagram post.
“Para sempre o número um,” VinÃcius wrote, meaning “Forever number one.”
The message was particularly meaningful because VinÃcius now wears Real Madrid’s famous No.7 shirt, previously worn by Ronaldo.
Other football stars, including Bruno Fernandes and Pepe, also paid tribute to the Portuguese icon.
Ronaldo ends an unforgettable international journey
Ronaldo’s retirement announcement marks the end of one of the most successful international careers in football history.
The 41-year-old made his Portugal debut in August 2003 and went on to achieve incredible records.
234 international appearances
146 goals for Portugal
EURO 2016 champion
Two UEFA Nations League titles
Although Ronaldo will continue his club career with Al-Nassr, his incredible journey with Portugal is coming to an end.
And Neymar’s simple one-word message shows just how much respect Ronaldo has earned from some of football’s biggest stars.
