England have suffered another injury setback during the international break, with Nico O’Reilly ruled out of the Czechia clash while Ezri Konsa remains under assessment after missing training.
England hit by double injury concern ahead of Czechia clash
England have suffered another injury setback ahead of their Nations League clash with Czechia, with Nico O’Reilly ruled out and Ezri Konsa also facing a late fitness check.

The defensive pair both played the full 90 minutes in England’s 3-2 defeat to Spain at Wembley.
However, neither player trained normally with the squad before the trip to Prague.
Thomas Tuchel confirmed that both were dealing with minor physical problems and needed further assessment.
Nico O’Reilly ruled out
O’Reilly’s situation has developed into the more serious concern.
The Manchester City defender missed England’s main training session and followed an individual programme instead.

He was later ruled out of the Nations League match against Czechia.
Rio Ngumoha was included in the matchday squad as O’Reilly dropped out because of injury.
At the moment, England have not confirmed the exact nature of the problem.
There is also no official timescale for how long O’Reilly could be unavailable.
Konsa receives more positive update
Ezri Konsa also missed training with what Tuchel described as a minor issue.
Unlike O’Reilly, however, the Arsenal defender has not been officially ruled out.
Konsa remained part of England’s plans and was due to receive another fitness assessment before the match.

That gives Tuchel some hope that the centre-back could still be available.
If he cannot play, England have several defensive alternatives, including Trevoh Chalobah and Jarrad Branthwaite.
Tuchel confirms both players had problems
Speaking before the game, Tuchel admitted he was unsure whether the two defenders would be available.
He said:
“They missed training because of minor issues, but they are still issues.”
The England boss explained that both players needed medical checks before a final decision could be made.

Tuchel also made it clear that he did not want to take unnecessary risks with their fitness.
He said his original plan was to avoid making too many changes, but injuries may now force him to adjust his starting XI.
O’Reilly had difficult night against Spain
O’Reilly started at left-back against Spain and played the entire match.
The Manchester City youngster was involved in both positive and negative moments.
He provided an assist during the game but also made a mistake that contributed to Spain scoring an important goal.

Despite the error, Tuchel defended O’Reilly and insisted England’s defensive problems were not caused by one player.
The manager had hoped to keep much of the same team together for the Czechia game.
O’Reilly’s injury has now forced at least one change.
Lewis Hall could get his chance
With O’Reilly unavailable, Lewis Hall could now be given an opportunity at left-back.
The Newcastle defender is already part of Tuchel’s squad and offers a natural option in that position.

His chances of starting have increased significantly following O’Reilly’s withdrawal.
Tuchel could also make changes elsewhere in defence depending on Konsa’s condition.
England already missing several players
The latest problems add to an already difficult international break for England.
Several players withdrew from the original squad before the Nations League campaign began.
The list included:
Cole Palmer
Declan Rice
Marcus Rashford
Kobbie Mainoo
Tino Livramento
O’Reilly’s injury means Tuchel has now lost another player during an already difficult period.
The number of absences has also increased the debate around player workload and the demanding football calendar.
England need response after Spain defeat
The timing of the injuries is particularly frustrating for Tuchel.
England started their Nations League campaign with a 3-2 defeat against Spain at Wembley.
They now travel to Prague looking for their first points of the group stage.
Tuchel had hoped to keep his team as stable as possible, but the latest fitness problems could force changes in defence.
O’Reilly is definitely unavailable, while Konsa’s condition remains one of the main questions before kick-off.
Fresh headache for Thomas Tuchel
England’s situation is now clear.
Nico O’Reilly will miss the match against Czechia.
Ezri Konsa continues to be monitored.
And Tuchel must once again adjust his plans because of injury problems.
After already losing several important players during the international break, England’s defensive options have now been placed under even more pressure.
The next major update will be whether Konsa is fit enough to play and how long O’Reilly could remain unavailable.
