After Argentina lost to Spain with a score of 0-1 in the 2026 World Cup final, Leandro Paredes rushed in to clash with the players on the “La Roja” side.
The 2026 World Cup final was overshadowed by a fierce altercation between the players of both teams. Immediately after the referee blew the final whistle, MetLife Stadium turned into the scene of violent confrontations.
Midfielder Paredes on the Argentina side was spotted picking a fight with Pau Cubarsi and throwing a punch toward Spain’s substitute player Gavi, sparking a melee on the pitch.
Tensions escalated to a peak when defender Nahuel Molina along with many other teammates continuously shouted and rushed toward the group of celebrating Spanish players. The situation became so serious that coach Lionel Scaloni had to directly rush onto the pitch, putting effort into dragging his players away from the out-of-control crowd to avoid heavier punishments from FIFA.
Prior to that, the frustration of the Argentine side flared up near the end of regular time when Enzo Fernandez received a straight red card, leaving the South American representative a man down.
Taking advantage of the numerical advantage in extra time, substitute player Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, sealing the final 1-0 victory for coach Luis de la Fuente and his players, thereby helping “La Roja” step to the top of the world for the second time.
