Yan Diomande’s transfer to Real Madrid has suddenly hit a major obstacle as FIFA has been forced to step in to resolve a dispute between two agency firms.
According to AS, Roc Nation is being sued at FIFA by the company Maxidel over alleged breach of contract. Maxidel contends that Real Madrid negotiated with Roc Nation to complete the transfer, even though they are the entity with the legal right of representation for the player. Maxidel is the agency behind the deal that brought Diomande from Leganes to RB Leipzig last summer.
The cause stems from Diomande switching to work with Roc Nation – the agency representing multiple stars such as Vinicius Junior and Endrick. Following the 2026 World Cup, the player even visited Roc Nation’s headquarters in New York before Real Madrid initiated negotiations with the firm.
Under FIFA regulations, when a dispute regarding representation rights occurs, world football’s governing body reserves the right to temporarily suspend or even refuse to issue an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) if the matter has not been conclusively resolved.
Sources indicate that Real Madrid was completely unaware of the dispute and is not the party being sued. The Santiago Bernabeu side believes everything will soon be resolved, but in the short term, they must still await a final decision from FIFA.
One option being considered is FIFA issuing a temporary clearance so Diomande can register to play while the lawsuit regarding brokerage commission fees is processed.
In reality, nearly every other clause of the deal has been finalized. Real Madrid and Leipzig have agreed on the transfer fee, payment method, documentation procedures, as well as personal terms for Diomande.
Notably, Real Madrid has to spend over €150 million to sign Diomande.
