The Barcelona star delivered another outstanding international performance as Spain continued their impressive Nations League run.

But Yamal did more than simply help his country win.

His performance allowed him to break a record previously held by Real Madrid legend Raúl and reach a European milestone not seen for 66 years.

Yamal destroys Croatia with two goals and an assist

Yamal needed very little time to make an impact.

The winger opened the scoring in the second minute and immediately put Croatia under pressure.

He later created another goal for Spain before scoring his second of the night in the 63rd minute.

By the final whistle, Yamal had finished the match with two goals and one assist.

Spain eventually secured a convincing 4-1 victory.

The result also extended their remarkable unbeaten run to 40 matches.

Yamal breaks record held by Raúl

Yamal’s performance created a new record for the Spanish national team.

According to statistics reported after the match, he became the youngest player in Spain history to score at least two goals and provide an assist in the same international game.

Yamal achieved the feat at just 19 years and 78 days old.

The previous record belonged to Raúl.

The legendary striker achieved the same combination of two goals and an assist when he was 21 years and 273 days old.

Yamal has therefore beaten Raúl’s mark by more than two years.

A European feat not seen for 66 years

But that was not the only historic achievement of the night.

Yamal’s two goals against Croatia also took him to 10 goals for the Spanish senior national team.

And his age made that milestone extremely special.

Yamal became the youngest European player to reach 10 international goals since Denmark’s Harald Nielsen in 1960.

Nielsen reached the mark on August 26, 1960.

That means no European player had reached 10 senior international goals at such a young age for 66 years.

Important clarification over the record

There is one important detail about this statistic.

Yamal did not break Nielsen’s all-time European record.

Nielsen was even younger when he reached 10 international goals, doing so at around 18 years and 10 months old.

Yamal’s achievement is therefore that he is the youngest European to reach the mark since Nielsen in 1960.

That distinction makes the statistic accurate while still showing just how rare Yamal’s achievement really is.

Yamal’s incredible form continues

The numbers become even more impressive when looking at Yamal’s recent performances for club and country.

According to statistics reported after the Croatia match, he has been directly involved in 18 goals across his last eight appearances.

That run includes:

11 goals

7 assists

It is an extraordinary level of production from a player who is still only 19.

He had already scored against England in Spain’s previous Nations League match before producing another decisive display against Croatia.

Spain continue incredible unbeaten run

Yamal’s individual records came during another important night for Spain.

The 4-1 victory extended their unbeaten run to 40 games.

Spain continue to establish themselves as one of the strongest international teams in world football.

And Yamal is becoming increasingly important to their attacking system.

His ability to score, create chances and decide matches has made him one of the first names in the team.

Another record falls to Yamal

Breaking records has already become a regular part of Yamal’s young career.

He has previously set several age-related records for Barcelona, Spain and European competitions.

Now Raúl has become the latest legendary name to lose a record to the Barcelona winger.

And reaching 10 international goals at an age not seen from a European player since 1960 adds another remarkable chapter to his story.

Yamal continues to make history

For most players, scoring twice and providing an assist for their national team would already make it a special night.

For Yamal, it also came with two pieces of history.

He broke Raúl’s Spain record.

He reached 10 international goals.

And he became the youngest European to reach that total in 66 years.

At just 19, Lamine Yamal continues to achieve milestones that some of Europe’s biggest stars never managed at the same age.

And if his current form continues, this is unlikely to be the last major record that falls to him.
