Just months after completing a massive £40 million switch from Manchester United to Chelsea, Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho is already dominating the transfer rumor mill. Following a difficult debut season at Stamford Bridge, the 21-year-old has dropped a massive hint regarding his future via his social media activity.
The Great TikTok Cleanse: Erasing Chelsea
Despite signing a lucrative seven-year contract with the Blues over the summer, Garnacho has seemingly wiped his digital slate clean. The winger has deleted every single post referencing Chelsea from his official TikTok account.
Interestingly, the only posts that remain on his profile are from his time playing for Manchester United. Adding fuel to the fire, Garnacho recently reshared a highlights compilation made by a fan, showcasing his best moments at Old Trafford.
This social media purge comes amid a frustrating campaign for the youngster in London. He has managed to score just one Premier League goal for Chelsea this season, though he has netted seven times across other cup competitions.
Opening Up on His Old Trafford Exit
The social media activity aligns with recent, highly reflective comments Garnacho made regarding his departure from Manchester United. Speaking to Premier League Productions, he admitted that leaving his boyhood club took an emotional toll.
“Maybe yes [it hurt], because I loved that club,” Garnacho confessed. “They gave me the confidence from the start, from Spain, to bring me to the academy, then they bring me to the first team. It was like four or five years of amazing love from everyone—the fans, the stadium, everything was really good.”
He also opened up about his final six months under the Manchester United regime, admitting that frustration over a lack of playing time led to some behavioral missteps.
“I remember in the last six months I was just not playing like before. I started to be on the bench. It’s not a bad thing—I was only 20 years old—but in my mind, it was like I had to play every game. In my mind, maybe it is also on me, I started to do some bad things. But sometimes you have to make decisions… I have no regrets.”
What’s Next? A Return to South America?
While Garnacho stated he is “really proud” to be at Chelsea and still playing in the Premier League, his sudden social media shift paints a different picture of a player potentially looking for an escape route.
Recent reports have strongly linked the Argentine with a surprise move back to South America. Argentine giants Boca Juniors are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing the winger on a loan deal to help him rediscover his form and confidence.
Whether he fights for his place under the bright lights of Stamford Bridge or seeks a temporary exit, Garnacho’s future is undoubtedly one of the biggest storylines to watch as the transfer window approaches.
