Lamine Yamal’s uncle has reacted angrily to Harry Kane winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or. Abdul claims his nephew deserved the award and makes a controversial comment about Kane’s remaining career.
Lamine Yamal’s Uncle Strongly Criticises Harry Kane After 2026 Ballon d’Or Victory
Lamine Yamal’s uncle has launched a strong attack on Harry Kane after the Bayern Munich striker won the 2026 Ballon d’Or ahead of the Barcelona superstar.
Kane received the prestigious award in London on October 26, finishing ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Yamal.
However, the result left Yamal’s family extremely disappointed.
His uncle Abdul publicly questioned Kane’s victory and insisted that the 19-year-old Barcelona winger deserved to be named the world’s best player.
Yamal’s uncle furious over Ballon d’Or result
Speaking to Spanish television programme El Chiringuito, Abdul expressed his frustration after discovering that Yamal had finished third.
He argued that his nephew had enjoyed an incredible season, winning La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the 2026 World Cup with Spain.
According to Abdul, Yamal remains the best player in the world despite missing out on the Ballon d’Or.
He also questioned why the Barcelona youngster had not received greater recognition for his performances.
Abdul makes controversial comment about Harry Kane
But Abdul’s criticism did not stop there.
He suggested that football supporters would rather watch Lamine Yamal than Harry Kane because of the Barcelona star’s creativity and exciting playing style.
While acknowledging Kane’s goalscoring ability, Abdul insisted that his nephew was the better overall player.
He then made a controversial joke about Kane’s age, suggesting that the England captain had only a few days left in his career and had therefore been given the award.
His comments were clearly aimed at questioning whether Kane deserved to finish ahead of Yamal.
Yamal’s uncle predicts five Ballon d’Or titles
Abdul also made a bold prediction about his nephew’s future.
He rejected the idea that Yamal should simply wait because he is still young.
Instead, Abdul predicted that the Barcelona superstar would eventually win five Ballon d’Or awards.
Yamal has already made history by winning three consecutive Kopa Trophies, but he is still waiting for his first senior Ballon d’Or.
Kane remains the official Ballon d’Or winner
Despite Abdul’s criticism, Kane’s victory followed an outstanding season with Bayern Munich and England.
The 33-year-old scored 73 goals for club and country during the 2025/26 campaign.
He also helped Bayern win major domestic trophies and became the first English player to win the Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001.
There is no evidence that the 2026 Ballon d’Or voting was unfair or manipulated.
For now, Abdul’s comments have added another controversy to Kane’s historic victory, while Yamal continues his search for football’s biggest individual award.
