Cristiano Ronaldo has officially been suspended for 30 days and fined €255 after leaving Portugal’s training camp. However, the 41-year-old could return to the national team as early as November.
OFFICIAL: Portugal Hand Cristiano Ronaldo 30-Day Ban After National Team Walkout
Cristiano Ronaldo has officially received a 30-day suspension from the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) after leaving the national team camp following a dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus.

The decision was announced on October 19, ending weeks of uncertainty about the 41-year-old’s international future.
Ronaldo was also fined €255 for breaking the federation’s disciplinary rules.
However, the punishment is much lighter than initially feared, and Ronaldo could return to Portugal’s squad as early as November.
Portugal officially punish Ronaldo
The FPF’s Disciplinary Council confirmed that Ronaldo had violated Article 160(1) of its regulations.
The case began after the Al Nassr star left Portugal’s training camp on September 30, shortly before a UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.

The controversy started when Ronaldo became unhappy with his role under Jorge Jesus.
He had remained on the bench during Portugal’s match against Norway and was reportedly frustrated after learning he would not start against Denmark.
Ronaldo then left the national team camp without proper permission, leading to a disciplinary investigation.
The Portuguese captain later accused Jesus of breaking his word about playing time, but the coach denied making any such agreement.
Ronaldo avoids a possible six-month ban
Under FPF rules, leaving the national team without justification can result in a suspension of between one and six months.
However, the disciplinary committee considered several factors before making its decision.
These included Ronaldo’s long service to Portuguese football, his achievements and his willingness to accept responsibility.
His public apology also helped reduce the punishment to just 30 days, alongside a €255 fine.
The decision means Ronaldo has avoided a much longer absence from international football.
Ronaldo has already served most of his suspension
There is another important detail that makes the punishment less serious.
According to Portuguese media, 19 days of Ronaldo’s suspension had already been served when the decision was announced.

That means he had only 11 days remaining on October 19.
His suspension is therefore expected to end on October 30, allowing him to become available for Portugal’s November matches.
Ronaldo could return against Denmark and Wales
Portugal are scheduled to face Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17 in the UEFA Nations League.
With Ronaldo’s suspension expected to expire before those fixtures, he could be available for selection.
However, being eligible does not guarantee that Ronaldo will return to the squad.

The final decision belongs to Jorge Jesus, whose relationship with the forward remains uncertain following their public disagreement.
Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença has previously expressed his desire to see Ronaldo represent Portugal again.
But the coach and player may still need to resolve their differences before a return becomes possible.
Ronaldo apologised for leaving the team
Earlier in October, Ronaldo publicly admitted that leaving Portugal’s training camp had been a mistake.
He apologised to supporters and teammates while accepting that he could face disciplinary action.
Importantly, Ronaldo made it clear that he had not retired from international football and remained available to represent Portugal.

Following the official punishment, Ronaldo shared training images with Al Nassr on social media but did not directly comment on the decision.
What happens next for Cristiano Ronaldo?
The FPF has now officially settled Ronaldo’s disciplinary case with a 30-day suspension and €255 fine.
With most of his punishment already served, the 41-year-old could return to international football next month.

However, his future still depends on Jorge Jesus and whether the coach decides to welcome him back into the team.
The suspension may soon be over, but the biggest question remains: will Cristiano Ronaldo return to Portugal’s national team in November?
