Cristiano Ronaldo was left furious after two goals were ruled out for offside against Al Kholood. Saudi refereeing expert Abdullah Al-Qahtani has now explained why both decisions were correct.
Ronaldo Denied Two Goals as Refereeing Expert Breaks Silence on Controversy
Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a major refereeing controversy after having two goals disallowed during Al Nassr’s dramatic 5-3 victory over Al Kholood on October 29, 2026.

The Portuguese superstar thought he had scored twice in the first half, but both efforts were ruled out for offside.
The decisions left Ronaldo frustrated and quickly sparked debate among football fans.
Now, Saudi refereeing expert Abdullah Al-Qahtani has explained why both goals were correctly disallowed.
Ronaldo has two goals ruled out in first half
The first controversial moment came in the 10th minute when Ronaldo put the ball into the net following a pass from Abdullah Al-Hamdan.
However, VAR reviewed the incident and ruled out the goal for offside.
Ronaldo was clearly unhappy and questioned the decision of referee Khalid Al-Turais.
His frustration continued shortly before half-time.

In the 45+4 minute, Ronaldo scored again, but the second goal was also disallowed for offside.
That meant the Al Nassr captain had two goals cancelled before the end of the first half.
Refereeing expert gives verdict on Ronaldo controversy
Speaking on Saudi television network Thmanyah, refereeing expert Abdullah Al-Qahtani analysed both incidents.
He explained that semi-automated offside technology confirmed Ronaldo was in an offside position during the first incident.
Al-Qahtani also supported the referee’s decision to disallow the second goal.
According to the expert, both decisions followed the rules of football and were correctly made.
However, his comments were an expert opinion rather than a new official decision from the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo responds with incredible hat-trick
Despite his frustration, Ronaldo produced a brilliant performance in the second half.
The 41-year-old scored three goals in just 15 minutes, finding the net in the 66th, 72nd and 81st minutes.

João Félix assisted his first two goals, while Sadio Mané provided the pass for his third.
Ronaldo’s hat-trick helped Al Nassr secure a dramatic 5-3 victory and ended his 908-day wait for another hat-trick.
Ronaldo moves closer to historic 1,000-goal milestone
Although two of his efforts were disallowed, Ronaldo still reached another important milestone.
His hat-trick took his career total to 985 goals, leaving him just 15 away from the remarkable 1,000-goal target.

The two cancelled goals have not been added to his official total, and there is no confirmed decision to change that.
What began as a frustrating night for Ronaldo ended with a memorable hat-trick, another victory for Al Nassr and a major step towards his historic goal.
