The punishment was announced on October 19 following Ronaldo’s disagreement with Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus.

Shortly after the decision became public, the 41-year-old superstar returned to Instagram with a brief message.

However, instead of directly responding to the punishment, Ronaldo appeared focused on his work with Al Nassr.

Ronaldo shares first message after suspension

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Ronaldo shared several photographs of himself training with Al Nassr shortly after the federation announced its decision.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner included a short caption:

“Putting in the work 🔥”

The post showed Ronaldo continuing his preparations with his Saudi Arabian club.

However, he made no direct reference to the suspension or the €255 fine.

His decision to focus on training rather than the controversy quickly attracted attention following the official punishment.

Why did Portugal ban Cristiano Ronaldo?

The controversy began when Ronaldo left Portugal’s training camp on September 30 ahead of a UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.

The Al Nassr forward had reportedly become frustrated with his role under Jorge Jesus.

Ronaldo was left on the bench against Norway despite being asked to warm up during the match.

Cristiano Ronaldo Punish Portugal

He later accused Jesus of breaking his promise about playing time, although the coach denied making such an agreement.

The disagreement eventually led Ronaldo to leave the national team without permission, resulting in a disciplinary investigation.

Portugal confirm 30-day ban and €255 fine

On October 19, the FPF’s Disciplinary Council officially confirmed Ronaldo’s punishment.

The federation found that he had violated Article 160(1) of its disciplinary regulations.

As a result, Ronaldo received:

A 30-day suspension and a €255 fine.

However, the punishment could have been much more serious.

Under the federation’s rules, leaving the national team without permission can lead to a suspension of between one and six months.

Ronaldo received the minimum punishment after the committee considered his apology and other mitigating circumstances.

Ronaldo could return to Portugal in November

Despite the suspension, there is positive news for the Portuguese captain.

According to A Bola, Ronaldo had already served 19 days of his punishment when the final decision was announced.

That means only 11 days remained, with the suspension expected to finish at the end of October.

Ronaldo could therefore be available for Portugal’s matches against Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17.

However, his return is not guaranteed because Jorge Jesus will decide whether to include him in the squad.

Ronaldo remains focused on football

Earlier in October, Ronaldo publicly apologised for leaving the national team and admitted that his actions had been a mistake.

He also made it clear that he remained available to represent Portugal in the future.

Now, following the official suspension, his latest social media activity suggests that his attention is on training and club football.

For now, Ronaldo has chosen not to directly comment on the FPF’s decision, leaving questions about his international future unanswered.

With his suspension approaching its end, attention will turn to Portugal’s next squad announcement.

The biggest question remains: will Cristiano Ronaldo return to the national team in November, or will his disagreement with Jorge Jesus continue?
