Barcelona suffered a frustrating Champions League setback against domestic rivals Atletico Madrid, with an early red card and defensive lapses ultimately sealing their fate. Despite the defeat, teenager Lamine Yamal stood out as a beacon of attacking hope for the Catalan side.
Here are the full player ratings for Barcelona following their tough European night.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Joan Garcia – 6/10
Made a crucial save early in the match to deny Julian Alvarez, keeping his side in it momentarily. Unfortunately, he was left exposed and could do little to prevent either of Atletico’s goals.
Jules Kounde – 6/10
Having just returned from injury, it was unsurprising that Kounde didn’t look completely sharp. However, he deserves credit for managing to keep the dangerous Ademola Lookman relatively quiet.
Pau Cubarsi – 5.5/10
The young center-back started the match brightly, but his night ended in disaster. He was shown a red card in an unlucky sequence, an incident that fundamentally changed the game and proved exceptionally costly for Barcelona.
Gerard Martin – 6/10
Struggled physically in key moments. He was outmuscled far too easily by Alexander Sorloth, directly leading to Atletico’s second goal.
Joao Cancelo – 6.5/10
While he didn’t enjoy the same attacking success he has showcased in recent weeks, Cancelo remained a reliable outlet on the left flank, constantly providing options for his teammates.
Midfielders
Eric Garcia – 6/10
Started the game in a holding midfield role where he looked somewhat uncomfortable. Following Cubarsi’s dismissal, he was pushed back into the defensive line to stop the bleeding.
Pedri – 6.5/10
A mixed evening for the creative midfielder, featuring a blend of bright sparks and sloppy moments. His night was cut short at the half-time whistle, making way for Gavi.
Dani Olmo – 6/10
Given the nod over Fermin Lopez in the starting XI, but the former Leipzig man struggled to make a tangible impact in the final third.
Forwards
Lamine Yamal – 7.5/10 (Man of the Match)
By far Barcelona’s most electric player. Almost everything positive flowed through him. He nearly registered an assist in the first half and produced several breathtaking solo runs that only lacked a final finishing touch.

Marcus Rashford – 6.5/10
Alongside Yamal, Rashford was the team’s biggest attacking threat. The Englishman had a couple of solid strikes saved by Juan Musso and actually found the back of the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
Robert Lewandowski – 6/10
A very quiet and isolated evening for the veteran striker. His current lack of form and consistency up top remains a growing concern for the Blaugrana.
Substitutes
Gavi – 6.5/10
A rare highlight on an otherwise dark evening. Playing his first significant minutes since returning from a nearly six-month injury layoff, Gavi didn’t look out of place and injected some much-needed energy.
Fermin Lopez – 6/10
Introduced to add a cutting edge to a 10-man attack, but couldn’t break down a resolute Atletico defense.
Ronald Araujo – 6/10
Brought on to play out of position at right-back; didn’t have much of an impact on the proceedings.
Ferran Torres – 6/10
Appealed for a late penalty but ultimately looked like a player completely devoid of confidence.
Alejandro Balde – N/A
Did not play enough minutes to warrant a rating.
