After leaving the pitch with an ice pack on his ankle in the 2-0 victory over Morocco, Kylian Mbappe spoke out to reassure fans about his condition.
Despite having to leave the pitch early and being spotted applying ice to the ankle area, the captain of “Les Bleus” affirmed that the situation is not too serious as initially feared by fans. Sharing directly with the media, Mbappe said: “I’m still fine. The ankle took a hit, but everything at the moment is no longer a concern.”
The star on the payroll of Real Madrid also further explained the substitution decision at the end of the match. He believed that Jean-Philippe Mateta was a more suitable choice to maintain the intensity of play in the final 15 minutes thanks to his fresh physical state.
When asked about the upcoming semi-final clash against either Belgium or Spain, the striker wearing the number 10 shirt appeared cautious. He assessed: “The road ahead is still very long. We clearly understand that the challenges coming up will be much harsher than what the whole team has gone through, but we are ready for it.”
In the quarter-final match against Morocco, despite missing a penalty in the 29th minute, Mbappe still showed his influence on the France team’s style of play when he himself was the one to open the score for “Les Bleus” with a class curled shot in the 60th minute.
Afterwards, it was Ousmane Dembele’s turn to seal the final 2-0 victory for Didier Deschamps’ team in the 66th minute, following a run piercing into the center before unleashing a dangerous low finish.
