Ronaldo continuously receives bad World Cup news

Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr have been repeatedly penalized by the AFC for a series of violations in the 2025/26 AFC Champions League Two season.

According to the disciplinary decision announced by the AFC after the 2025/26 season concluded, the total fine that the Saudi Arabian team must pay amounts to $126,750. The violations range from delays and failing to comply with media regulations to the behavior of fans.

Ronaldo was fined $5,000 after failing to participate in the flash interview as required by the AFC following the second leg of the AFC Champions League Two semifinal against Gamba Osaka on May 16. For the same violation, midfielder Sultan Abdullah Al Ghannam received a fine of $5,000.

Not only the players, but Al Nassr was also heavily fined for a series of violations during the process of organizing and participating in the tournament. The Saudi Arabian team was fined $75,000 for allowing fans to use at least 30 flare devices in the stands. In addition, the club must pay an extra $26,250 for failing to control the inappropriate behavior of fans.

Al Nassr was further penalized $22,500 for failing to ensure players fully participated in mandatory media activities according to the tournament regulations. This team was also fined $5,000 for not leading all players through the mixed zone after the match.

Another error that cost Al Nassr an additional $5,000 was that the club’s representative was not present at the stadium at the specified time before the match. This is not the first time Al Nassr has been penalized by the AFC for violating match organization procedures. Previously, in the matches against Al Wasl and Al Ahli, Ronaldo’s team was fined twice for letting the matches start late.

In the past Champions League Two season, Ronaldo and Al Nassr reached the final but lost to Gamba Osaka with a score of 0-1. In return, Al Nassr managed to win the Saudi Pro League, which is also CR7’s first championship in Asia.

Personally, Ronaldo has just ended his journey at the 2026 World Cup after Portugal lost 0-1 to Spain in the round of 16.
