Wayne Rooney Slams Man Utd Players as “Babies” After Humiliating Como Defeat

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has launched a furious attack on the club’s players, calling them “selfish” and “like babies” following their humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como.

The former United captain was left angry after Bruno Fernandes publicly questioned Michael Carrick’s tactics following Wednesday’s defeat in Italy.

Rooney also criticised Lisandro Martinez, who had recently spoken out against Manchester United’s leadership over the club’s transfer activity.

According to Rooney, some United players are trying to blame others instead of taking responsibility for their own poor performances.

He also warned that the situation could create serious problems inside the dressing room.

Rooney calls Man Utd players selfish and childish

Speaking on The United Stand podcast on October 22, Rooney did not hide his frustration with the current squad.

The former England striker accused United’s players of caring more about themselves than the team.

Rooney described the players as “selfish” and compared their behaviour to that of babies who refuse to accept responsibility.

He argued that players should focus on improving their performances instead of publicly criticising the manager or club officials.

Rooney believes that some players are using problems behind the scenes as an excuse for disappointing results.

For the Manchester United legend, the players must look at themselves first before blaming anyone else.

Bruno Fernandes becomes Rooney’s main target

Bruno Fernandes became one of Rooney’s biggest targets after his controversial comments following United’s defeat to Como.

The Portuguese midfielder suggested that Michael Carrick’s tactical approach had allowed the Italian side too much freedom.

Fernandes believed United should have pressed their opponents more aggressively instead of allowing them to control possession.

However, Rooney strongly disagreed with the captain’s decision to publicly question the coaching staff.

Rooney suggested that Fernandes is going through one of the worst periods of form since joining Manchester United.

He argued that the midfielder should focus on his own performances rather than putting additional pressure on Carrick.

Rooney also recalled his playing days under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He explained that even when he had disagreements with Ferguson, he always remained fully committed to helping the manager and his teammates on the pitch.

Rooney believes Manchester United’s current players must show the same level of commitment and responsibility.

Lisandro Martinez also faces strong criticism

Rooney’s criticism was not limited to Fernandes.

He also questioned Lisandro Martinez following the Argentine defender’s recent comments about Manchester United’s leadership.

Martinez previously criticised the club’s transfer activity after United’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.

He suggested that Manchester United needed greater investment to compete with Europe’s strongest teams.

Rooney believes Martinez’s public criticism created a dangerous situation inside the dressing room.

The former striker warned that other players could follow the same path and begin openly questioning the club’s decisions.

According to Rooney, this could damage relationships between players, coaches and senior officials.

He urged both Martinez and Fernandes to take more responsibility for their own performances.

Rooney fears Man Utd dressing room could fall apart

One of Rooney’s biggest concerns is the possibility of growing division within Manchester United’s squad.

He believes the public criticism from Martinez and Fernandes could encourage more players to speak out against the manager and the board.

Rooney warned that the situation could eventually damage the unity of the entire dressing room.

He also suggested that more controversial interviews could follow if the team’s results do not improve.

The former United striker believes players must stay united during difficult periods rather than publicly blaming each other.

However, his comments are personal opinions and do not confirm that Manchester United’s entire squad is divided against Carrick.

Seven games without a win increase pressure on Carrick

Rooney’s angry reaction comes during a serious crisis at Old Trafford.

Manchester United suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Como on October 21, with Nico Paz scoring twice and providing an assist.

The result extended United’s winless run to seven consecutive matches in all competitions.

The Red Devils are also struggling in the Premier League, where they currently sit 13th in the table.

Michael Carrick is now facing growing pressure to improve results and restore confidence inside the club.

Despite the criticism, Manchester United are expected to keep Carrick in charge for Sunday’s Premier League match against Bournemouth.

However, his long-term future remains uncertain.

Rooney sends clear message to Man Utd board

Alongside his criticism of the players, Rooney also called on Manchester United’s leadership to provide clarity about Carrick’s future.

The former striker believes uncertainty surrounding the manager could make an already difficult situation even worse.

Rooney wants the board to make its position clear while demanding greater responsibility from the players.

He believes Manchester United cannot continue allowing poor performances and public criticism to damage the team.

With Carrick under pressure and several senior players expressing frustration, the club now faces an important period.

Manchester United face another major crisis

Manchester United’s problems are no longer limited to disappointing results on the pitch.

The team’s poor performances, public criticism from senior players and uncertainty surrounding Carrick have created an increasingly difficult situation.

Rooney’s latest comments have added even more attention to the crisis, with the club legend accusing some players of acting selfishly and refusing to accept responsibility.

For Fernandes and Martinez, the criticism represents another difficult moment during a disappointing season.

Meanwhile, Carrick must find a way to improve results and restore confidence before the pressure becomes even greater.

With Manchester United facing Bournemouth next, Rooney’s message is clear: the players must stop looking for excuses, take responsibility and start proving themselves on the pitch.
