Just 10 days after concluding his journey at the 2026 World Cup, Lionel Messi returned to the training pitch with Inter Miami to prepare for the next stretch in MLS.
After competing with the Argentina national team all the way to the 2026 World Cup final, many assumed the 39-year-old superstar would take time off to recover physically. However, Messi quickly rejoined Inter Miami, demonstrating his determination to return to action early as the MLS season remains underway.

Images of the Argentina captain appearing on the training pitch just over a week after the final earned widespread praise from fans. Despite having just gone through an intense tournament, Messi still displayed high professionalism and a desire to contribute by opting against an extended break like many other stars.
The return of the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner also provides a big boost for Inter Miami. Previously, M10 was absent for the club’s two matches against Chicago Fire and CF Montréal. The Argentine superstar was also confirmed to miss the MLS All-Star Game for the third time since coming to play in the United States.
On August 2, Inter Miami will host Columbus Crew at home. However, the possibility of Messi taking the field remains up in the air.
