Ronaldo slammed for weird gesture after fans chant “Messi, Messi”

Ronaldo couldn’t contain his frustration as Saudi Arabian fans repeatedly chanted ‘Messi, Messi’ in the stands during Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over home team Al Shabab on May 8th.

Ronaldo overcomes the pressure, scores his 100th goal in the Saudi Pro League.
Once again, Ronaldo had to endure the discomfort of opposing fans using the name of his longtime rival, Messi, to put pressure on the Portuguese star during the match.

In response, Ronaldo remained unfazed by the taunts. Whenever Saudi Arabian fans of Al Shabab chanted “Messi, Messi” in the stands, the star responded by moving his hands as if conducting an orchestra, according to MARCA.

Ronaldo then silenced the chants of Messi from the opposing fans when he contributed a goal in Al Nassr’s emphatic victory, scoring in the 75th minute. This was also Ronaldo’s 100th goal in the Saudi Pro League and his 971st career goal, bringing him closer to the historic milestone of 1,000 goals and sending Al Nassr fans into a frenzy of joy.

However, in Al Nassr’s victory, the biggest credit goes to striker Joao Felix, who scored a hat-trick, including the final goal in the 90+8th minute from the penalty spot. Joao Felix was awarded the penalty because Ronaldo had already left the field in the 90+1st minute.

Al Nassr’s victory helped the club regain confidence after the shock 1-3 defeat to Al Qadsiah in the previous round. This restored their lead over second-placed Al Hilal to 5 points in the Saudi Pro League 2025-2026 title race. However, Ronaldo’s team has played one more game. In this round, Al Hilal will face bottom-placed Al Kholood at 0:00 on May 9th. A win would narrow the gap between the two teams to just 2 points.

The next round will be decisive, as Al Nassr faces Al Hilal at home to decide their chances of winning the championship. Ronaldo’s team currently holds at least their fate in their own hands and is putting pressure on their biggest rival.

Ronaldo also encouraged his teammates with a strong message after Al Nassr’s victory over Al Shabab: “A great win tonight!!! Keep going!!”
