The Brazilian Football Confederation has just brought good news to fans by confirming that Neymar’s injury recovery process is going according to plan ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Just a few days after Neymar drew attention with his “The Last Dance” comment on the official FIFA World Cup Instagram page, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) continued to issue an important update regarding the health status of the Seleção captain.

According to the CBF, Neymar underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan earlier this week as part of his calf injury treatment program. The test results show that everything is progressing positively and is entirely within the medical team’s expectations.
“Neymar underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan on Monday and the tests show that his treatment is progressing well, within the expected range,” the official statement from the CBF noted.
The Brazilian Football Confederation also emphasized: “He will continue to follow the rehabilitation and physical conditioning program designed by the national team’s medical department.”
Although an exact return date to the pitch has not been confirmed, this positive signal gives Brazilian fans more hope about Neymar’s chances of featuring in the early stages of the 2026 World Cup.
The striker, born in 1992, is racing against time after suffering a grade two calf muscle tear towards the end of the season with Santos. The injury caused him to miss Brazil’s last two friendly matches against Panama and Egypt, while also creating quite a bit of controversy when manager Carlo Ancelotti still decided to include his name in the World Cup squad.
Previously, many opinions suggested that Neymar had not reached peak physical condition and his presence could become a source of pressure for the whole team. However, the Brazilian coaching staff still places their trust in the greatest goalscorer in Seleção history.
Currently, Neymar has scored 79 goals in 128 appearances for the national team and is heading towards the fourth World Cup of his career, following the tournaments in 2014, 2018, and 2022.
With the latest updates from the medical team, the possibility of Neymar returning to training in the next few days is entirely feasible. If everything goes smoothly, the 34-year-old star could absolutely feature in Brazil’s opening matches at the 2026 World Cup, where he is expected to complete his “last dance” with the Seleção.
