With his hat-trick scored within 32 minutes in the victory over Norway, Ousmane Dembele officially wrote his name into World Cup history.
Dembele has just entered World Cup history by scoring the second-fastest hat-trick of all time in France’s 4-1 victory over Norway in the final matchday of Group I. The Paris Saint-Germain star took just 26 minutes to tear the opponent’s net three times, a feat that has not appeared in the past 72 years. In the history of the tournament, only Erich Probst (Austria) scored a faster hat-trick with a record of 24 minutes at the 1954 World Cup.
His 3 goals started right from the 7th minute after a highly decisive finish. In the 13th minute, Dembele continued to double the lead before completing his own hat-trick in the 32nd minute.
If counting from the moment of the first goal to the third goal, the winger born in 1997 took a mere 26 minutes of playing time. His sublime performance helped France close the first half with a 3-1 lead, after Thelo Aasgaard on Norway’s side pulled a goal back. In the second half, Desire Doue scored in stoppage time, sealing a 4-1 victory for “Les Bleus”.
With an outstanding individual performance, the number 7 star was voted Player of the Match. Currently, he has pocketed 4 goals, becoming a potential candidate for the World Cup Golden Shoe title.
