Spain historically smashes record in France semi-final

The Spain national team continues to make an impression by establishing a new goalscoring record following a 2-0 victory over France in the 2026 World Cup semi-finals in the early morning of July 15.

Two goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro against France not only helped Spain win a ticket to the final but also raised the team’s total number of goals to 13 after 6 matches.

According to AS, this is Spain’s best goalscoring achievement in a World Cup, surpassing the milestone of 11 goals established at the 1986 World Cup.

The explosiveness of the attacking stars along with the stable form of the pillars in the midfield helps Spain maintain an impressive goalscoring efficiency throughout the tournament. Not only the forwards, many players from the second line also regularly contribute to the attacking front, causing opponents a lot of difficulties in blocking them.

Notably, Spain not only possesses an explosive attack but also maintains solidity in defense. Since the beginning of the tournament, coach Luis de la Fuente’s team has only conceded one goal in the match against Belgium in the quarter-finals.

The last time Spain featured in a World Cup final was 16 years ago. The opponent of “La Roja” will be the winner of the remaining semi-final pair between England and Argentina.
