Liverpool Urged to Sign Bayern Munich Superstar as a Replacement for Mo Salah

Legends Steven Gerrard and Jermaine Pennant are urging Liverpool to do everything possible to sign Michael Olise from Bayern Munich to fill the void left by Salah.

Mohamed Salah’s glorious nine-year era at Anfield will officially come to an end this summer. In this context, The Kop’s management faces one of the biggest challenges in modern history: finding a player of sufficient stature to succeed the Egyptian legend.

Michael Olise: “The dream replacement” for legends

Recently, Steven Gerrard publicly called Michael Olise the “dream replacement” for Salah’s position. Sharing this view, former midfielder Jermaine Pennant also urged his old club to take decisive action after witnessing the French player’s explosive performances for Bayern Munich.

In particular, in the Champions League, Olise has earned the admiration of experts. In the dramatic first leg of the semi-final, which ended 4-5 against PSG, the winger not only scored but also constantly tormented the opposing defense with his superior technique and speed.

On social media platform X, Pennant wrote: “Liverpool must act and bring Olise in immediately, at all costs. He is the replacement for Mo Salah. Pay any price, even be willing to include Cody Gakpo as part of a swap deal.”

Michael Olise’s form this season is the clearest evidence of why he is so sought after. He has scored 20 goals and provided 29 assists across all competitions. Since leaving Crystal Palace to join the Bundesliga, Olise has become one of the most effective wingers in Europe today.

However, the expectations of former football legends are being met with a harsh reality in the transfer market. According to reputable journalist James Pearce of The Athletic, the chances of Liverpool acquiring Olise are very low.

“Signing Michael Olise at this point is almost impossible,” Pearce stated. “It’s very rare for a top team to come to Bayern Munich and take their best player when he’s in the prime of his career, unless you offer a crazy amount in negotiations.”

Instead of focusing all efforts on an overly expensive and difficult deal like Olise, Pearce suggested a more practical approach. He believed that Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig was a better fit for Liverpool’s recruitment profile and sustainable financial strategy.

While Olise is the perfect option from a professional standpoint, Liverpool will have to carefully consider whether to disrupt their wage structure to acquire a star who has already made a name for himself, or to continue relying on their data-driven scouting process to find a “new Salah” from the smaller leagues.
