Every Player Who Have Scored 50+ Goals in a Single European Season Since 2000

Scoring 50 club goals across all competitions in a single season is an incredibly rare and monumental feat. While a select few legendary forwards managed to achieve this milestone routinely during their absolute prime, most top-tier strikers can only dream of reaching such staggering numbers.

With Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane recently etching his name into the history books, here is a look at the exclusive six-man list of players who have recorded a 50-goal season for a club in Europe’s top five leagues during the 21st century.

Harry Kane – Bayern Munich (2025-26)

The England captain officially joined the 50-goal club during Bayern Munich’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Real Madrid. Finding the back of the net in both legs of the tie, Kane has been the undisputed star for the Bavarians as they hunt down a historic treble.

Remarkably, Kane reached the 50-goal milestone in just his 42nd appearance of the 2025-26 campaign. Only Lionel Messi—who hit the mark in just 40 appearances during the 2012-13 season—has achieved it faster.

Erling Haaland – Manchester City (2022-23)

The only player on this list to achieve the feat for a Premier League club, Erling Haaland took English football by storm during his debut season. The Norwegian powerhouse fired home an astonishing 52 goals across all competitions, propelling Manchester City to a historic treble.

Haaland’s tally included a record-breaking 36 goals in the Premier League and another 16 in cup competitions. It remains the greatest single-season goalscoring return by any center-forward in English football history.

Luis Suárez – Barcelona (2015-16)

While Luis Suárez was utterly brilliant during his time at Liverpool (scoring 31 Premier League goals in 2013-14), he elevated his game to unimaginable heights after moving to Catalonia.

During the 2015-16 season, the Uruguayan striker hit his ultimate peak, racking up 59 goals across all competitions for Barcelona. By scoring 40 times in La Liga, Suárez claimed the European Golden Shoe and famously broke up the long-standing Pichichi duopoly held by Messi and Ronaldo.

Robert Lewandowski – Bayern Munich (2019-20 & 2021-22)

Robert Lewandowski was already a prolific goalscorer, but he somehow found another gear after turning 30. During the 2019-20 campaign, the Polish talisman fired Bayern Munich to a treble with a career-best 55 goals across all competitions.

Just two years later, in his final season with the German giants, Lewandowski bowed out in style by hitting exactly 50 goals across all competitions while securing his eighth consecutive Bundesliga title.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid (6 Seasons)

After an injury-hit debut season following his record-breaking transfer in 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo went on an unprecedented scoring tear. The Portuguese icon registered 50 or more goals in six consecutive seasons for Real Madrid (from 2010-11 through 2015-16).

His absolute peak came during the 2014-15 campaign when he netted a breathtaking 61 goals. Even when his total goals dipped slightly in his final two seasons in Spain, it was only due to Zinedine Zidane’s strategic resting—a trade-off that resulted in Ronaldo dominating the Champions League knockout stages and lifting the trophy year after year.

Lionel Messi – Barcelona (6 Seasons)

Matching his eternal rival, Lionel Messi also breached the 50-goal mark in six different seasons for Barcelona (2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2014-15, 2016-17, and 2018-19).

Driven by his intense head-to-head battles with Ronaldo in La Liga, the Argentine maestro produced numbers that border on the absurd. The crown jewel of his career remains the 2011-12 season, where he scored a mind-boggling 73 club goals—a record that will almost certainly never be surpassed in modern European football.

📅 On this day, 13 years ago, Lionel Messi scored his 91st and last goal of 2012. 😱 91 goals. In one calendar year. Absolutely surreal from the GOAT. 🤯🐐 🗣️ Pep
