Real Madrid just completed a biggest transfer deal this summer

Real Madrid has reached an agreement to sign Bernardo Silva on a free transfer, ending the race with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid right on the eve of the 2026 World Cup.

Real Madrid continues to stir up the summer transfer market by completing the agreement to sign Bernardo Silva. As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Royal Spanish club has reached a full agreement with the Portuguese international and is preparing to announce the deal soon.

The familiar phrase “Here we go” was used once again by Romano to confirm the transfer. Silva will sign a two-year contract with an option to extend for an additional season. Notably, the entire negotiation process took only about 36 hours before being successfully concluded.

Silva becomes the next notable new signing in Real Madrid’s rebuilding plan under Jose Mourinho. Previously, President Florentino Perez publicly stated his intention to add experienced players to bring the team back into the title race following a trophyless season.

Sources from Spain indicate that Mourinho was the one who directly pushed for this deal. The Portuguese manager highly values Silva’s creativity, elite experience, and versatility. Upon receiving the offer from the Bernabeu, the 31-year-old midfielder quickly agreed.

Before choosing Real Madrid, Silva also received proposals from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. However, the decisive move by the Royal club helped them edge ahead in the competition.

After nearly a decade playing in the Premier League, Silva wants to return to an environment closer to his homeland. Madrid has become the ideal destination for the next phase of his career.

Barring any last-minute changes, Silva will reunite with Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu. The two players previously enjoyed an explosive 2016/17 season together at Monaco before each embarking on their own separate journeys.
