Cristiano Ronaldo has received a special message from the Portuguese Football Federation following his recent suspension. The unexpected gesture has raised hopes of a possible return to the national team.
Portugal Send Special Message to Ronaldo After National Team Controversy
The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has sent a special message to Cristiano Ronaldo following his recent suspension, raising hopes that his relationship with the national team is improving.
The message was shared on Portugal’s official social media account on October 28, after Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or of All Time (B.O.A.T.) fan vote.
The 41-year-old superstar finished ahead of Lionel Messi, with his legendary 2008 season at Manchester United receiving the most votes.
However, what attracted the most attention was the federation’s decision to publicly call Ronaldo their captain despite their recent controversy.
Portugal send emotional message to Cristiano Ronaldo
Following Ronaldo’s victory in the special Ballon d’Or vote, the Portuguese Football Federation shared a congratulatory message.
The federation wrote on X:
“From 2008 to eternity. The all-time Ballon d’Or is Portuguese. Congratulations, Captain!”
The message celebrated Ronaldo’s incredible career and his historic achievements for Portuguese football.
More importantly, calling him “Captain” was seen by some reports as a positive sign after weeks of tension between Ronaldo and the national team.
However, the B.O.A.T. was a public fan vote rather than another official Ballon d’Or trophy. Ronaldo remains a five-time winner.
Ronaldo received suspension after Jorge Jesus controversy
The message came shortly after Ronaldo received disciplinary punishment from the Portuguese Football Federation.
The controversy began when the Al Nassr forward left Portugal’s training camp on September 30 following a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus.Ronaldo was unhappy with his playing time and later publicly explained his disappointment.
On October 19, the federation handed him a 30-day suspension and a €255 fine.
The punishment raised serious questions about whether Ronaldo would return to the national team.
Could Ronaldo return to Portugal in November?
Despite the recent disagreement, there are now positive signs about Ronaldo’s international future.
The Portuguese superstar has reportedly been included in Jorge Jesus’ preliminary squad for November’s UEFA Nations League matches.
Portugal are scheduled to face Denmark on November 14 and Wales on November 17.
With Ronaldo’s suspension expected to end before those matches, he could return to the national team next month.
However, Portugal have not officially confirmed his selection in the final squad or announced that the disagreement has been fully resolved.
Portugal open the door to Ronaldo’s comeback
The federation’s latest message has created fresh hope among Ronaldo supporters.
After weeks of controversy, the public congratulations suggest that Portugal still values its legendary captain.
However, the message alone does not confirm a full reconciliation or guarantee Ronaldo’s international comeback.
All eyes will now turn to November 6, when Jorge Jesus is expected to announce his final squad and reveal whether Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Portugal.
